The concept of intelligent glasses has been around for 50 years, but this shortcoming has limited its development.

The most famous of the smart glasses is “Google Glass”, which was released in April 2012. This is a kind of expanding reality glasses, and has the same functionality as a smart phone: such as taking photos through sound control, videos, calls and it also can identify the direction, complete the online search, process text information and e-mail, etc. This has greatly stimulated the industry’s interests and set off a global wave of wearable technology.

What exactly are Smart glasses

The working rationale is when people input the command through glasses, the controller will get order and complete processing, then the user will get feedback. The miniaturization of processors in smart glasses allows people to read and receive information in the physical or virtual digital world through existing technologies. Unlike other single products, it can assist people to learn and improve the efficiency of users in different ways. People have been keen on the research of smart glasses, and the research on smart glasses gradually increased in 2008, especially in 2014.

Past and Present

Around 1960, Morton invented a multi-sensory simulator (Sensorama), It creates a virtual reality system by pre-recording video and sound. In 1965, Ivan proposed the concept of virtual reality, a world of interactive graphics, sound, and feedback. Smart glasses can divide into five typical types: Glass-CAM, Smart Rear Mirro, Smart Monocular, Smart Binocular, Immersive Eyewear.

Smart glasses are not perfect.

People also gradually found that the use of smart glasses in life will bring a lot of inconvenience, such as it is easy to distract people’s attention when people wearing smart glasses, poor endurance, excessive size, inconvenient accommodation, etc. Although Google Glass has a very convenient camera taking feature, it also brings some worries, and people will feel that this convenient hidden photography function will violate privacy, even after many public places were explicitly banned from wearing Google glasses. Although smart glasses will be the typical representative of artificial intelligence research field in the future, at the same time, the wide spread of intelligence is not only limited by technology, but also by moral constraints.
